All of the rooms (except the Nido/ Infant room) spent a lot of time on their performances, and it really showed!

The evening started off with some songs sung by the Wobbler Room. They sang the Itsy Bitsy Seed and Little Wiggle Worm. They even had puppets to help them act out the song. Great job toddlers!

Then we saw a performance by the Mini Room. They performed a short play about making the earth happy by reducing, reusing, and recycling. Some of the class were dressed as flowers, others as outdoor enthusiasts, and still others as people enjoying a picnic. They also had a display about Earth Day. On the display there were dolls made out of yogurt cups, flower hats made from paper plates, cottages made from milk cartons, and coasters made from fabric. What a great way to teach the children that using recycled materials can be fun and playful!

Finally our celebration ended with a play from the Primary Room. The play was about a group of visitors coming to Colorado. The visitors saw skiers, fishers, bike riders, geologists, and hikers. They shared the audience about all of the Colorado State symbols and how it is important to keep the earth clean! The whole celebration was a great success and we want to thank all of our families for gathering and helping us celebrate Earth Day in this way.

At Patience Montessori we really value these opportunities where we get to grow as a community and let the children expand their social abilities. Our next celebration will be for Maypole Day on May 1st. We will have a Maypole dance as well as a talent show. These celebrations and performances allow the children to expand their abilities in the realms of public speaking by feeling more comfortable and confident in front of a large group of people. Of course, it is always up to the individual child as to whether or not they want to perform in a specific play or song. Our main goal is to nurture the child’s independence and we feel these performances are excellent and fun ways to do so.

The teachers always have open and consistent communication with each child’s family about the development of their child. Also, because it is a small school, the director, Patience gets to know each family and their individual needs.

Our main goal is to creative a supportive and nurturing environment to support each child’s individual development. Frequent meetings between the director and lead teachers, lead teachers and assistant teachers, and lead teachers with other lead teachers makes Patience Montessori a great community environment. Close and open relationships among staff members are essential to fully support each child and each staff member makes these relationships a priority.

Parents are always welcome to schedule meetings with their child’s lead teacher or the director or to observe their child’s classroom by appointment. Parent involvement in their child’s Montessori experience is highly encouraged and supported in our school.

As a private school located in beautiful North Boulder, we pride ourselves on our commitment to individualized care. Whether it is in an infant, toddler, pre-kindergarten, or kindergarten room the need remains the same.

In the Montessori environment it is essential that the teachers in the classroom follow each child’s own inner guide. We have a low teacher-child ratio here at Patience Montessori which allows the teachers in each classroom to devote individualized attention to each and every child. The different temperaments, cultures, languages, and interests of each child must be recognized and incorporated to make them feel at home in their classroom.

Each child is different, with some children being drawn more to Math and others more to Language or Practical Life. The different areas in the Montessori classroom — Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, and Culture — allow for the children to explore and develop skills on their own. The focus is to encourage each child’s healthy interests as a way to discourage any unhealthy habits that may exist or develop.

The curriculum in the Montessori classroom is all inclusive and has a strong emphasis on peaceful interactions among one another. Each child must feel safe in their environment in order to progress to the next development stage in a healthful way. Peaceful interactions among one another are essential for this environment to exist, and support our individualized education.

Located in North Boulder, our preschool program, or Primary Program, is designed as a 3 year curriculum that serves children ages 3.5 through kindergarten. We believe that children learn so much from each other, and our preschool is mixed ages, so the younger children can learn from the older children and the older children can develop as teachers to the younger children.

Children learn best at their own pace, and Patience Montessori’s preschool program provides activities that are always available to the child, and the child is encouraged to study and explore independently.

Our preschool facility in Boulder, Colorado is carefully designed to accommodate the diverse needs of your child. In our warm and friendly environment, your child is given the education that will nurture your child’s whole being and pave the way for your child to develop into a capable and loving leader.

Many parents enroll at Patience Montessori, looking for childcare while they work. While Patience Montessori does serve the daycare function, with long hours that show our focus on working parents, Patience Montessori is much more than a childcare center. Patience Montessori is a real school that focuses on the Montessori educational curriculum, and a community of parents who want the best for their kids.

At Patience Montessori School, your child will be well cared for and nurtured in a holistic environment that supports your child’s needs at each phase of the journey. As an infant in our Nido Classroom, daycare for your child will include a wide variety of activites to support gross motor skills development. As a toddler, in our Mini/Wobbler (Toddler Program) Room, the intention is to help your child master their muscle co-ordination in our loving and caring childcare environment. Our Primary Program, for preschool and kindergarten age children, offers the comforts of home for working parents who need longer childcare hours with the exceptional Montessori curriculum.

Research shows that sign language taught to toddlers can improve later IQ scores by an average of 12 points. More than that, sign language allows infants to communicate before they are able to vocalize. Infants are able to communicate their needs and gain a feeling of control over their environment.

Early learning of languages is shown to enhance intellectual growth. It provides children with more flexibility in thinking, a better ear for listening and a larger vocabulary, while improving a child\’s understanding of his/her native language. Further, languages open the door to other cultures.

Patience Montessori is proud to announce that our school was featured on 9News. This video is a credit to the curriculum at the new school, and to Patience’s commitment to enriching students’ growth and development.

The 9News feature cites research that sign language taught to toddlers can improve later IQ scores by an average 12 points. Also, the video features the voice of infant room lead teacher Marisa Buchsbaum translating sign language into spoken words in real time. This shows that Patience Montessori goes the extra mile in hiring truly exceptional staff, who can reinforce sign language on an ongoing basis, in addition to bringing in a dedicated sign language teacher twice week.

Also, check out the slideshow of pictures of students, staff and parents at the school, engaged in a sign language activities.
